- ➤ Northside Oktoberfest will celebrate its 29th year on September 20th—this local festival in the Northside area will offer ticketed BrewFest events, Bier Hall treats and SodaFest for families with craft beer, local food and live music. Downtown Iowa City
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Johnson County supervisors chair Jon Green is defying Gov. Kim Reynolds’ order to lower county flags at half staff for Charlie Kirk because he says Kirk hurt marginalized people — officials like Reynolds and Attorney General Brenna Bird criticized his decision and warned of legal or electoral consequences. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ UI Health Care is seeking board approval to purchase and raze the 12,800 sq ft Mercy building—built in 1985 and now unused—to clear space for a downtown expansion, and it will relocate its EMS Learning Resource Center to the Capital Centre. The $1.2M purchase and $3.9M EMS project will start in October and finish in March to improve training facilities. Iowa City Press-Citizen
