Textiles, a beloved women’s clothing store with a 34-year history downtown, is reopening under new owner Miranda Meyer at 105 S.

Dubuque Street on the Pedestrian Mall this September. The store will host a Grand Opening Celebration on Sunday, September 21 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Northside Oktoberfest will celebrate its 29th year on September 20th—this local festival in the Northside area will offer ticketed BrewFest events, Bier Hall treats and SodaFest for families with craft beer, local food and live music.

Johnson County supervisors chair Jon Green is defying Gov. UI Health Care is seeking board approval to purchase and raze the 12,800 sq ft Mercy building—built in 1985 and now unused—to clear space for a downtown expansion, and it will relocate its EMS Learning Resource Center to the Capital Centre.

The $1.2M purchase and $3.9M EMS project will start in October and finish in March to improve training facilities.
