- ➤ Jane Drapeaux, HACAP’s CEO since 2007 with a career beginning in 1999, will retire Dec. 31— the nonprofit announced that Matt Majeski will start as her successor on Jan. 1. The Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ University of Iowa held the inaugural UI Center for Intellectual Freedom event Saturday at the Old Capitol with Gov. Kim Reynolds, legislators, and regents in attendance. The center, commissioned by the Legislature, was designed to protect free academic thought and encourage respectful debate + guide future educational reform. The Gazette
- ➤ Iowa nursing advocates expressed concerns over a proposed change to the Department of Education's professional degree definition that excluded nursing, which they said would lower enrollment and limit loan access, worsening local shortages.
