CULTURE NEWS

  • Tickets are on sale for the two-day Stop/Time Festival the Hancher Auditorium at the University of Iowa will host on April 3-4, featuring multi-genre performances at seven local venues + early bird student pricing.  KCRG

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Regina Catholic High School senior Luke Rustan was named the Press-Citizen’s Student of the Week on Dec. 5; he has taken on roles in choir, track, school productions and as a retreat team leader. The student poll closed on Dec. 4 (a new poll opens on Dec. 8).  Iowa City Press-Citizen

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Nearly all of Iowa’s counties saw EV registrations grow by 33% in the past 18 months, with sales peaking just before tax credits ended. Iowa City boosted EV infrastructure by installing chargers in parking ramps + offering grants for apartment building installations.  The Gazette

  • The Iowa DNR reports that over 34,000 shotgun hunting licenses have been sold for a season running from today to Dec. 10, and officials urge hunters to wear proper blaze orange, follow safety plans, and submit deer samples to monitor chronic wasting disease.  The Gazette

  • The Hawkeyes signed 22 new recruits on National Signing Day as coach Ferentz and GM Barnes maintained a recruitment process focused on character and talent — Iowa football will begin offseason meetings and explore the transfer portal while players reset before the bowl game.  The Gazette
