ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ The Iowa Economic Development Authority awarded $2M in tax credits for two redevelopment projects — a $1.3M credit to revitalize the Iowa River Power Restaurant and a $700K credit for redeveloping the former ACT campus; the restaurant’s renovations are expected to finish by summer 2026. - ➤ The Iowa Board of Regents approved the UI Center for Intellectual Freedom bylaws on Dec. 3 (after a delayed vote) and the center will host the inaugural Reforming Universities Summit on Friday at the Old Capitol Museum and Iowa Memorial Union as it prepares for spring classes. - ➤ The Iowa Board of Regents elected Robert Cramer as president and Kurt Tjaden as president pro tem on Dec. 3; both begin their leadership today and will serve until April 30, 2026 + their regent terms run until 2029 and 2031. Iowa City Press-Citizen
