- ➤ Nine-year-old Millie Judge, who overcame major health challenges such as open heart surgery at four months and colon removal this summer, served as honorary kid captain at the Nebraska Cornhuskers event on Aug. 9 at Kinnick Stadium while playing her favorite game, Dr. Millie. She pretends to care for her sisters, toys, and pets in a way that shows her love for play. KCRG
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Downtown hotels HotelVetro and Hotel Chauncey and the entertainment venue SpareMe are closing, with HotelVetro having closed yesterday, SpareMe scheduled to close tomorrow and Hotel Chauncey set for Sunday due to issues with foreclosed properties. Foreclosed buildings owned by GreenState Credit Union remain unsold — leaving many tenants to face an uncertain future. Iowa City Press-Citizen

- ➤ Young gymnasts in the Handstand Walk for Kids event raised over one million dollars for pediatric cancer research over the last five years — the funds will support further research and treatment efforts. We Are Iowa
