Living Waters Fellowship will feed over 1,000 people for Thanksgiving—offering coats and cold weather items for those in need.
Sanctuary Pub is hosting a free Thanksgiving dinner for students at 405 S.
Gilbert St. on Thanksgiving Day (Nov 27) from 6 to 9 p.m. — guests need only show a valid student ID as the dinner features roasted turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, green beans, dinner rolls, cranberry sauce, pie and non-alcoholic beverages.
Hyper Energy Bar announced it will expand its chain east by opening a new North Liberty location at 1695 Jordan St. in December—after first opening its Iowa City space in fall 2024.
The café offers coffee, infused energy drinks and smoothies.
Crab House Seafood Boil & Bar opened its second location in Coralville—925 25th Ave.—on November 18, expanding from its Cedar Rapids site to offer Cajun seafood boils for local diners.
Iowa City will offer free downtown ramp and metered parking on Thanksgiving and Black Friday—and free transit rides on Black Friday and Small Business Saturday—to help local shoppers during the holiday weekend.
The city will also host events such as Santa Saturdays and Holiday Pop Up Shops to support the community.
West Lyon (13-0) won the 1A State Championship game in overtime against Iowa City Regina (12-1) with a score of 34-27—securing their 7th state title and extending their winning tradition from a 2A victory last fall—bolstering their strong record in state play.
Iowa beat Chicago State 93–54 on Thursday night as Tavion Banks scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds—helping the team secure a 5–0 record with a strong second-half run.
