EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Iowa’s Center for Intellectual Freedom will hold its winter summit — Reforming Universities — on Dec. 5 and Dec. 6 at the Old Capitol Museum and The Iowa Memorial Union to spark ideas on changing how colleges teach. Gov. Reynolds, former regent David Barker, and other leaders will speak as the center prepares to offer spring classes on American politics and culture.  Iowa City Press-Citizen

HEALTH NEWS

  • Johnson County Ambulance Service has launched the Narcan Leave Behind Program to provide Iowa City residents with free two-dose Narcan kits for opioid overdose emergencies—residents can visit the service at 808 South Dubuque Street or the GuideLink Center at 300 Southgate Avenue to get training and resource information, with the pilot backed by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services and local partners.  KWWL

  • Dowling Catholic High School's twin quarterbacks, Joey and Jimmy Nahas, connected for a crucial touchdown that helped the Maroons win 14-10 over Valley in the state semifinal last Friday and secure a state championship spot.
