Iowa City Housing Authority launched a pilot program to help 19 households secure stable housing by offering financial incentives to landlords—$1,000 for an adult household and $2,000 for a household with children—and partners with Shelter House to provide case management and supportive services. The program targets individuals with disabilities and families with long-term housing needs in Johnson County.
The Iowa men’s basketball team beat Xavier 81-62 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena Friday night, with guard Bennett Stirtz scoring 21 points to boost the team to a 3-0 record.
They will host Southeast Missouri State Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
On Saturday, USC trailed 21 to 7 before scoring 19 unanswered points to win 26 to 21 in a game played in heavy rain.
Makai Lemon made 10 catches for 153 yards and scored a touchdown later in the game — his strong performance kept USC's College Football Playoff hopes alive as Iowa's final drive fell short.
