Iowa City launched a two-week food drive on Nov 4 to support CommUnity Crisis Services and Food Bank amid SNAP funding issues (drop-off sites are set across the city with pop-up events on Nov 14, 17, and 18 and the drive runs until Nov 21).
Voters in the Iowa City Community School District elected two incumbents and one newcomer to the school board Tuesday—Jayne Finch, Ruthina Malone and Jennifer Horn-Frasier.
Finch got 26.4 percent of the votes, Malone got 26.3 percent and Horn-Frasier got 20.3 percent—records show five candidates ran for three seats on a board that serves about 14,000 students.
Iowa quarterback Mark Gronowski used the off week to rest from a knee injury and add to his rushing record—he has scored in every game and will try for his 56th win against No. 6 Oregon on Saturday at Kinnick Stadium.
