- ➤ Matt Degner was named one of the nation’s top 10 superintendents by Education Insider, recognizing his leadership of Iowa City Community School District where he oversees more than 14,000 students — his work builds trust through community engagement. Iowa City Press-Citizen
- ➤ Four schools were named as the first Iowa Blue Ribbon Schools for 2025 in a ceremony at the State Capitol on Wednesday—Gov. Reynolds recognized their hard work and dedication. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Last year, the Iowa Lottery raised $103.9 million for the general fund and has contributed over $42 million to the Iowa Veterans Trust Fund through steady Powerball sales. Lottery CEO Matt Strawn said the next $2.5 million donation will boost the veterans fund total to over $44 million as lottery proceeds continue to exceed projections. We Are Iowa
- ➤ If the federal shutdown continues, nearly 131,000 Iowa households will lose SNAP benefits on November 1 while they can still use leftover funds, leaving many without new food support.
