EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Iowa City High School senior Evan Stucky was named Student of the Week by the Press-Citizen. He has taken a leadership role in his band as a section leader and principal percussionist — mentoring younger players and preparing for an All-State audition. Iowa City Press-Citizen
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Seventeen local historians, archivists, donors and community members filed a lawsuit against the State Historical Society after it announced plans to close the Iowa City Research Library and move its collections to Des Moines due to financial issues. The plaintiffs seek a temporary injunction to stop the document move and require returned artifacts— a hearing is set for Oct. 14 at the Johnson County Courthouse and the library will close permanently on June 30.
