ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Procter & Gamble is expected to expand its Oral-B site in Iowa City with a $150 million project that will build a new 150,000-square-foot production facility and add 100 new jobs—nearly all in manufacturing and management. The project received $5.25 million in state tax benefits and local tax exemptions and is planned to begin construction in fall. Iowa City Press-Citizen

- ➤ The Iowa City Press-Citizen Student of the Week poll is back with nominations from high school principals who select students excelling in and out of the classroom — voting runs until noon on Thursday while the winner will be announced on Friday. - ➤ Kelly Garcia resigned as director of Iowa’s HHS and will leave in October after nearly six years on the job—Gov. Reynolds appointed Larry Johnson to lead the agency following a weeks-long transition. Garcia led the state’s COVID-19 response and key health care improvements as the handoff proceeds. - ➤ Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird signed a letter with 16 states last week urging universities to avoid high security fees after a college campus murder in Utah, saying the charges may limit free speech. She added that the Iowa Board of Regents has asked universities to examine social media posts related to the incident—an effort to address safety concerns. WHO 13

- ➤ Johnson County Public Health has launched free health and safety vending machines that offer Narcan, condoms, and gun safety locks plus more at Coralville Public Library, North Liberty Library, and The Deadwood in Iowa City.
