Procter and Gamble is expanding its Iowa City Oral-B site with a $150 million project that will add 100 jobs and build a 150,000 square foot facility to make products that are currently produced overseas—moving production to Iowa.
The project is supported by a state grant, tax credits, and local property tax incentives, and production will begin in 2027.
Attorney General Brenna Bird urged university presidents to protect free speech even when they disagree with speakers and advised schools to steer clear of discriminatory security fees in a joint letter with 17 states.
She also recalled Iowa’s free expression legacy—citing the 1938 Library Bill of Rights at the Des Moines Public Library and the Tinker v. Des Moines case—to underline the importance of constitutional rights.
Air traffic controllers in Cedar Rapids saved a pilot whose Cessna lost altitude near Iowa City Municipal Airport on November 3, 2024—trainee Nathan Mencke and trainer Devin Turner guided her to a safe landing—and she later nominated them for a national award while officials warned that over 3,000 controllers are needed to fully staff towers.
Iowa overcame Rutgers 38 to 28 as Mark Gronowski ran for three touchdowns and passed for 186 yards in the Big Ten opener Friday—he scored two late touchdowns to erase a 28 to 24 deficit.
Iowa's offense gained 346 total yards and will host Indiana on Sept. 27.
