Iowa City residents rallied yesterday outside the Public Library to save the State Historical Society—nearly 200 people attended a protest with a funeral procession, flute music by Romeo Buffalo, and speeches about preserving local history.

Iowa City West High School is the top public high school in Iowa with a score of 97.34 by U.S. News and World Report for 2025—its fourth consecutive year in first place while Iowa City Liberty and City High Schools ranked eighth and 12th respectively.

No. 22 Iowa State opened the season by beating No. 17 Kansas State 24-21 in Dublin, Ireland—securing their third straight win against their Farmageddon rival and marking head coach Matt Campbell’s 100th victory.
