🎭 Culture
The film 'Death of a Brewer'—a story based on Iowa City’s beer history—was filmed on August 12 at St. Mary Catholic Church in downtown Iowa City, and photos from the set show actors and crew during production.
This project highlights local talent and the town’s rich brewing heritage.
🏛️ Government
Law enforcement officials are studying a joint facility that could cost around $106 million—this 138,000 square foot building would have a 140 bed jail and shared spaces for training and investigation, and a bond issue may be proposed in November to fund it.
Neither Iowa City nor Johnson County has committed to the project yet.

Iowa high school sports are facing a shortage of officials as the fall season nears, affecting football, basketball, baseball, and other competitions.
