GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Iowa City finalized its ballot language for a 1% local option sales tax to raise revenue (estimated at $8–10 million annually) for housing, infrastructure, and community partnerships; half of the revenue will provide property tax relief. The measure, which voters will decide in November, was approved unanimously by the city council despite concerns (including its regressive impact on lower-income residents) and will take effect on July 1 if approved.
