Service dog handlers from Superstar Service Dogs are traveling statewide to comfort families of deployed service members and children after a school shooting—offering support through volunteer-led events while seeking more handlers for upcoming visits.

They provide relief by spending time with those in distress and aim to spark smiles during hard times.

Iowa City Police are investigating a shooting just before 3 a.m. Sunday on East Court Street (600 block) that injured four people; one victim was found at the scene and three drove themselves to hospitals in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids.
