- ➤ Governor Reynolds responded to a Fox News video that shows a University of Iowa employee saying she and colleagues worked around DEI restrictions. In her statement, she said she is appalled by the remarks — and she is referring the matter to Attorney General Brenna Bird for review. KCRG
- ➤ A University of Iowa professor misused over $294,000 in research funds for his personal business expenses (money spent on pigs and legal fees) and has been on administrative leave since October 2023. The university updated its conflict of interest policies while reviewing options for restitution and termination for Dr. Calvin Carter. KCRG
- ➤ Pascual Pedro, a 20-year-old who lived in West Liberty for seven years, told reporters via Zoom from Guatemala that he only asked elected officials for a chance to return after being deported following his July 1 ICE check-in — he stressed that he had always followed the rules and was confused by the process.
