🎓 Education
The University of Iowa’s general education fund will gain about $22M from a 3% tuition hike that supports a 2.5% spending rise next fiscal year.
The state regents will vote on the FY 2027 budget on Wednesday, July 29 (following prior revenue adjustments).
🌲 Environment
Jesus Gomez-Velez at the University of Iowa is developing an online tool to forecast nitrate levels in Iowa rivers and groundwater — meant to help keep water safe.
It uses NASA satellite data — with 60 monitors — and will be tested in Iowa City, Des Moines and Cedar Rapids.
