- ➤ Today, the Iowa City Bike Library is raising $1,000,000 to expand youth programs and upgrade its building with new solar panels and outdoor updates. The nonprofit has raised $675,000 so far — with contributions from the city and local foundations — and its campaign will go public on September 4. KCRG

- ➤ Iowa-based medical production company CIVCO opened its new ($15 million, 96,000-square-foot) facility in Coralville on June 6, moving its operations from Kalona and bringing 140 Iowa workers together. - ➤ A new law will allow birthing centers to open in Iowa on July 1, offering expecting mothers a home-like setting with midwife-led care. Caitlin Hainley of Des Moines Midwives Collective said the change is only a first step—insurance reforms will follow to make the centers more affordable. WHO 13
- ➤ Johnson County Public Health and Iowa Health and Human Services confirmed a measles case in an unvaccinated child exposed during international travel—marking Iowa’s third case—and the child visited local stores on specific dates. The child was at Costco in Coralville on June 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., Walmart in Iowa City on June 4 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Marshalls in Coralville on June 5 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.—officials urge anyone who was there to complete a survey. - ➤ Iowa Health and Human Services confirmed a second measles case in eastern Iowa when a vaccinated adult male tested positive for the virus — state officials are investigating whether travel played a role as nationwide cases exceed 1,100. Iowa City Press-Citizen
