ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Iowa DNR cautioned that deer activity will increase during fawning season—from late May until mid‑June—and may lead to more vehicle collisions, so drivers should stay alert at all times. The agency also warned that trying to rescue fawns can disrupt a doe’s safe birthing spot and potentially spread disease. Iowa City Press-Citizen
- ➤ The Timber Trails Estates Homeowners Association in a wooded neighborhood north of Iowa City agreed with the DNR to pay a $500 fine and will submit a plan in two months to reduce chloride from water softeners before taking further action by June 2026—measures meant to curb contaminants in Sanders Creek.
