COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Iowa ARL removed 22 horses from three properties over two days and moved them to its Second Chance Ranch. The group said residents can donate online + via Venmo to support care for the rescued horses. We Are Iowa
- ➤ Residents in a north side HOA report weeks of delayed pickups by LRS Waste and Disposal Services, with today’s truck arriving two days late and a three-week credit offered. The contract extends until Sept., leaving the community stuck with recurring issues. KCRG
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Starting in July, a new Iowa law lets a close adult friend (a trusted caregiver) make end-of-life decisions when a patient cannot decide for themselves. The measure prevents care delays by supplementing the usual hierarchy of spouse, adult child, or sibling. KCRG
- ➤ The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services said on Thursday that over 5,500 SNAP households had their cards canceled and replacement cards will arrive within 5-7 days. Affected families are asked not to request new cards and may contact customer service if they need help. We Are Iowa
