- ➤ Iowa City partnered with nonprofit Table to Table to support University of Iowa students during residence hall move-out by setting up nine donation drop-off locations plus a battery recycling service. The program collected 2,325 pounds of food, 95 pounds of toiletry products plus recycled 43 pounds of batteries to help reduce fire risks from improper disposal. KCRG

- ➤ A Colorado man, Nickoles Julio Deherrera (39) from Boulder, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after he threatened a bank teller with a fake gun during a January Wells Fargo robbery in Iowa City; he tried to take back his plea, but Judge Ian Thornhill (who set a five-year minimum) did not allow it and he must also pay $950 in restitution. - ➤ College students are speaking out about proposed tuition increases at all state universities, with UNI set to rise 2.7% and UI and ISU 3%—UI will see an added $279 per term. The Iowa Board of Regents will vote on the proposals on June 10th. WHO 13
