On April 30, Iowa saw drought conditions improve as only 13% of the state showed signs of dryness, down from 17% last week.
Northwest Iowa and a separate area in the southeast had dry patches while Polk County remained unaffected and rainfall boosted conditions in central Iowa.

Johnson County approved a $200K investment in a water quality sensor network with the University of Iowa's Hydroscience and Engineering Department.
The sensor data informs safe drinking water decisions and supports the state's nutrient reduction strategy goals.
