ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in the Midwest dropped to $3.79 per gallon on Monday from $3.89 last week, per the US Energy Information Administration. Prices remain below the national average amid trader uncertainty about Middle Eastern tensions & a spring driving surge.  Iowa City Press-Citizen

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Two weeks after NASA’s Artemis II mission returned from a 10-day lunar flyby, University of Iowa professor Jasper Halekas said the flight tested key systems for longer space travel (minor issues with leaks and a toilet design were noted) that could boost future missions.  We Are Iowa
  • On April 23, the Iowa Board of Regents approved a 3% tuition increase for in-state undergraduates at ISU, UI and UNI for the 2026–27 school year, raising costs by about $250 each year; student leaders acknowledged the burden while one regent opposed the measure.  Iowa City Press-Citizen
