- ➤ Former Hawkeye Kenyon Murray plans to build a 50,000-square-foot basketball training facility just south of Liberty High School in North Liberty after the City Council approved tax incentives for eight years—up to $1.3 million—and construction is expected to begin in September with the project lasting 12 to 14 months while also offering career-readiness classes to athletes. The facility will include four basketball courts, physical therapy spaces, a fitness center, and community event areas and will serve as the home of Murray Elite and supporting nonprofit programs. - ➤ A North Liberty woman pleaded guilty to third-degree harassment for threatening to kill a junior high principal in 2024—she will pay a $200 fine and must follow a no-contact order until March 2030. Iowa City Press-Citizen

- ➤ A federal judge ruled there is no legal basis to ban books that describe sex acts—putting the law on hold so school districts can plan to return thousands of withdrawn books.
