- ➤ The Iowa Senate passed a bill that will ban citizen police review boards in Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Ames, Coralville, Dubuque and University Heights. The bill—set to take effect Aug. 16 if signed by Gov. Reynolds—also amends civil service commission rules and now awaits debate in the House. Iowa City Press-Citizen
- ➤ Coralville has begun the third phase of its 5th Street reconstruction project near S.T. Morrison Park and City Hall, forcing pedestrians to detour along nearby sidewalks. City Engineer Scott Larson—who oversees the project—stated the detour will last through May as part of a $5 million effort set to complete by spring 2026. Iowa City Press-Citizen

- ➤ The Iowa Beef Industry Council and the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association announced 10 finalists, including Iowa City’s Wilder, for the annual Iowa’s Best Burger contest from nearly 400 restaurants.
