  • Iowa's three regent universities added $18 billion to state income in fiscal year 2023-24 and supported 214,000 jobs, a study by Lightcast reveals. Alumni impact accounted for nearly half the gain, with graduates earning $26,000 more than high school completers — each $1 invested yields $2.40 in tax revenue.  We Are Iowa

  • Iowa lawmakers gave Whirlpool CEO until Thursday to respond to questions about 341 worker layoffs at the Amana plant set for March 9. They ask if production will shift overseas and what support will be provided to affected employees.  KCRG
  • Around 575 Iowa National Guard soldiers will soon return home from the Middle East after 250 soldiers came back in mid-February. Welcome home ceremonies in Des Moines + Sioux City + Cedar Rapids will be announced when final details are ready.  We Are Iowa

  • Coralville will host the inaugural NCAA Women’s Wrestling Championship at Xtream Arena this weekend. Ticket sales nearing 1,500 to 1,800 and local businesses preparing for a boost have highlighted the event — organizers say planned upgrades will enhance the tournament experience for athletes and coaches.  KCRG
  • The Iowa United JHawks U14 team was invited to compete in Salou, Spain and is seeking donations (via its GoFundMe and local fundraisers) to cover travel and entry fees. This opportunity will let players represent their club internationally and gain new experiences on the field.  We Are Iowa
  • The OKC Thunder signed Iowa Hawkeye Payton Sandfort to a two-way contract and waived Buddy Boeheim, as the team announced Monday. Sandfort — a 6-foot-7 forward who averaged 16.7 points at Iowa and 11.0 with the Blue — is set to boost Oklahoma City's frontcourt.  We Are Iowa
