🏥 Health
Flu cases in Eastern Iowa are climbing as 47 schools reported at least 10% of students ill before Christmas and St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids saw its cases triple over the holiday.
The hospital urged those with positive at-home tests to visit a doctor for treatment like Tamiflu.
📰 Real Estate
Plans for 400 acres at the former ACT campus (including 44 senior housing units) have been revealed on Iowa City's east side.
The project will add commercial space along Highway 1 and more housing—including Iowa’s first pediatric palliative care center—with some construction underway and additional work set for spring.
🏈 Sports
Former Iowa State quarterback Rocco Becht committed to Penn State on Jan.
4 and will play his final season there, while the college football transfer portal has allowed hundreds of players to explore new opportunities since Jan. 2.
